Downloading Games With Steam: Is This Something People Are Getting Fed Up With

By Sakis Mavromatis

When it comes to downloading games using Steam, a lot of people are getting fed up with the fact that it is costing them more than to buy. And considering you do not get any packaging with your new game, it is even more strange. It is important to some people to have a pack for their game because it is proof that they have actually paid for it and when it comes to installing it on a new computer for example it will be easy to do.

Although it would be possible to download the game again would you really want to have to do this again?

What is more annoying is when the unbelievable happens like when Call of Duty Black Ops was released. Anyone who had camped out waiting to buy the game were given a package but then had to download the game via Steam.

What is even stranger is at the same time as all the people who had queued all night and were downloading Black Ops through steam, the game could not be bought from Steam because you had to get the box from the shop.

So do you really think it is worth saving a few quid on your game for all the hassle you are put through in order to get it? One thing is certain and that is Steam have to cope better with their high demand on major release days. There have been many reports of crashes and a lot of people are getting frustrated with the bugs in the system.

Although most of us are happy enough with the idea behind Steam, it is the implementation of it that is bothering us. But with investments in infrastructure there should not be as many crashes; however the bugs are probably going to be there for a while because of how quickly the service is growing. There are bound to be some improvements to Steam if you just stick with it and be patient.
